Additional photos of this Bimota HB3 are available here for your perusal.

Another rare and exquisite bike penned by Massimo Tamburini, the HB3 was Bimota’s third model with a Honda engine. This time around it utilized the air-cooled four cylinder from a CB1100F. Just 101 examples were produced, 43 with a half fairing and 58 with a full fairing.

This, obviously, is one of the latter.

The engine was good for 110 horsepower – Bimota claimed a top speed of over 155 miles per hour. Marzocchi 40mm forks with magnesium tubes are complemented by a De Carbon rear shock and Brembo brakes.

The package was available as a kit or as a complete bike in four colorways. White with red stripes was very common, but we have a soft spot for the red/white/green of the Italian flag.

In a May 1984 review, Motorcycling Weekly said, “Speaking objectively, it is the best high-speed handler I have ever come across. That reputation for immaculate steering, tenacious line holding and amazing stability at speed is well founded.”

This example is VIN HB3*00124.

The odometer shows 18,867 kilometers (11,723 miles).

It was imported and has two signs from its time in that country – a “b-Garage” sticker on the top of the tank as well as a Fukuda Motors badge on the rear fender.

It comes with a Japanese title – the seller has had it in a US-based collection for quite some time but he never registered it. Our White Glove service could help with a US title (except in California or Hawaii).

Cosmetic Blemishes:

While the bike was put away recently-serviced and running, we’d expect some service work to get started (assume fluid flush, carb clean, and battery). The tires are also about 12 years old and should be replaced if you’d like to ride it.
